The Work of 'Happy' Art

Dance at le Moulin de la Galette (1876)

This work of art was painted by August Renoir. August Renoir was known for his paintings by capturing the joyous moments of life of the citizens of Paris. This painting, in particular, was inspired by an event that took place every Sunday afternoon in the city of Paris, France. The location of this event took place near a cafe with a huge dance hall nearby. Renoir used bright colors to capture the fun, excitement and happy moments of this event. He also used these colors to define every detailed description of each individual.

When I look at this beautiful work of art, I get a sense of happiness. I see nothing but beautiful people enjoying life and socializing with peers as if there is no 'World of Obstacles'. As I look closely at their faces, I see no sorrow or worries. I see citizens of Paris dancing in the present moment of happiness.

  1. Very nice picture you picked. When I look at this picture, it draws me in with all the colors the artist uses to capture the moment. It almost looks like they all are at a wedding reception and the couple in the middle are the bride and groom. The colors he chose to use really bring this picture to life and you are right the people all look like they have no care in the world and are happy in this moment.

  2. I love how this picture is very colorful and bright but yet still looks like it is in the shade under trees. The way the artist can show bright happiness in the shade is really a great interpretation of happiness. No matter what might be going on in someone's life, maybe a struggle, happiness can still shine through the cracks. Sometimes you might have to go looking for it though. As in this picture the people meet at a specific place and time to gain their happiness.
